The must-see attractions along the West Coast are two very large glaciers that extend very close to the sea (and rainforest, a curious setting), the Fox and the Franz Josef glaciers (they are two of only a few glaciers in the world *currently* advancing; another is the Perito Moreno in Argentine Patagonia). About 40-60 meters of snow fall on the top of the glacier each year, and this snow beneath it is compressed and flows down to the sea. Here is the terminal face of the glacier.
